a different photo every day in Madeira island capital since 29 April 2009
The first photo is really interesting, especially the food - I've never seen that before in a crib. Is it a special tradition?
Yes. What we see in all pictures are two different tradition in Madeira Christmas. The first one is one, and people put some food, like oranges, apples, and others things. The second one is a recreation of some places of the island. Those photos are from a big "presépio", that was build downtown. But we do that, smaller, in our houses. Regards,Paulo Camacho

Its very beautiful, we do keep crib in our house the traditional way how our saviour was born but I liked the idea how well you people have represented his birthday with your culture and unique ideas.keep up the good workIf you don't mind could you just explain me the reason behind keeping crib shown in picture 1 in this way, I would love to know that.
I know I'm late in responding but I've never heard of this tradition. I like it.
